Nannies in Oman

Browse nannies who already live in Oman and are looking for a full-time role with one family. Profiles list childcare experience, including newborn care where the helper has it, languages, other skills, a live-in or live-out preference and a start date, so you can judge for yourself who might suit your children.

Nanny is one of the household occupations listed in Ministerial Decision 574/2025, so your family employs the nanny directly under its own Ministry of Labour licence, with a written contract registered with the ministry.

OmanHousemaids is a listing site, not a recruitment office. You contact nannies directly and agree duties, hours and pay between yourselves. This page is for nannies employed full-time by your family; occasional babysitting by another family's worker isn't allowed under Oman's rules, so it isn't listed here.

Common questions

What is the difference between a nanny and a babysitter in Oman?

A nanny looks after your children as a regular, full-time job, employed by your family with a work licence, a written contract and legal rights. A babysitter gives occasional care for a few hours, such as an evening out, with no ongoing job. Our guide to nannies and babysitters explains how each works in Oman.

Can I pay another family's housemaid to babysit?

No. MD 574/2025 (Article 9) bars an employer from letting their worker work for others, and bars a family from employing a worker who isn't licensed to them. The fine is OMR 50–500 per violation, per worker, and Labour Law penalties may also apply.

What do I pay a nanny in Oman?

Whatever you agree in the contract. Oman sets no minimum wage for expatriate domestic workers, so the wage is what you and the helper agree in the registered contract. Some home countries set a minimum before their embassy approves a contract. You also provide food, suitable accommodation and health insurance. See our salary guide.

What should I ask a nanny at interview?

Ask what a normal day looked like in the last job, why they are looking now, and how they would handle real situations in your home, such as a child with a fever. Check they are 21 or over with an in-date residence card. Our interview guide has a full list of questions and checks.

Do nannies in Oman get a day off?

Yes. MD 574/2025 gives at least one paid rest day a week. A nanny can work on it only by written agreement, and is then paid an extra day's wage on top of that day's pay, or given another rest day instead.
