Housemaids and home help in Muscat

Browse housemaids, nannies, carers and private drivers who live in Muscat governorate and are looking for full-time work with a family. This page covers all six wilayats of the governorate, so helpers from As Seeb to Qurayyat appear together, sorted by who was most recently active.

Seeb and Bawshar: profiles from As Seeb, including Al Khoudh, Mabelah and Al Mawaleh, and from Bawshar are listed here with the rest of the capital. Choosing someone who already lives nearby keeps a live-out arrangement practical, because the employer provides free transport to and from work when the helper lives outside the family's home (MD 574/2025, Article 15).

Mutrah, Muscat and Al Amrat: helpers living in these wilayats are included too. If you offer a live-in role, the room must be ventilated, lit and air-conditioned, with good bedding, a wardrobe and a sanitary toilet (MD 574/2025, Article 14).

Qurayyat: helpers living in Qurayyat appear here as well. If the list is short for your area, post a free job so helpers elsewhere in the governorate can see it and respond.

Common questions

Where can I find a housemaid in Muscat?

Browse the profiles on this page: helpers who live in Muscat governorate list their experience, languages, skills and availability, and you contact them directly. You can also post a free job and see who responds. Everyone listed already lives in Oman.

Which areas does this page cover?

All six wilayats of Muscat governorate: Muscat, Mutrah, Al Amrat, Bawshar, As Seeb and Qurayyat. Neighbourhoods such as Al Khoudh, Mabelah and Al Mawaleh are part of As Seeb.

Can a housemaid in Muscat live out?

Yes. MD 574/2025 allows a domestic worker to live outside the employer's home, and the employer must then provide transport to and from work free of charge (Article 15). The helper still works only for that one licensed employer.

How much is a housemaid paid in Muscat?

There's no set rate for Muscat or anywhere else in Oman. Oman sets no minimum wage for expatriate domestic workers, so the wage is what you and the helper agree in the registered contract. Some home countries set a minimum before their embassy approves a contract. You also provide food, suitable accommodation and health insurance. Our salary guide explains the rules.

Is there government home-care support for older people in Muscat?

Muscat Daily, quoting the Ministry of Social Development, reports a Home Care Programme run with Ministry of Health support and, from July 2026, home visits by multidisciplinary teams in Muscat, Seeb, Al Amrat and Qurayyat. Ask the ministry about eligibility. To employ a carer privately, browse carers in Oman.
